CHARLOTTE  NEUROFEEDBACK ASSOCIATES
since 2002

WHAT IS NEUROFEEDBACK?
Neurofeedback is a process in which information from the brain is accessed and presented back to the brain, allowing it (for the first time) to witness its own activity – to see itself in a mirror. Through this feedback loop encouragement is provided so the brain directs itself to a more favorable neurological choice. When repeated several times this more favorable choice becomes the new norm.

Our nervous systems are always striving to keep us functioning optimally. We often get stuck, however, in dysfunctional modes of mood and behavior. Our goal with neurofeedback is to allow the nervous system to calm down then reset itself onto a better neurological pathway.

In the field of neurofeedback there are several approaches using differing methods, equipment and software. With ILF neurofeedback the information we are presenting back to the brain about its own activity is not only EEG brainwaves but also the deeper, more fundamental brainwaves in this Infra Low Frequency range. At Charlotte Neurofeedback Associates we have seen marked improvement in results with the ILF approach.

Since 2002 Charlotte Neurofeedback Associates has been offering neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback or brainwave biofeedback service for its Charlotte clients in Mecklenburg County.

  • Just can’t stop getting angry?
  • Or being anxious and depressed?
  • Does it feel like you can’t stop worrying or obsessing about something?

One of my favorite client comments come from boys who had been oppositional, often with frequent meltdowns and poor self- image. After some neurofeedback sessions they can say things like “I didn’t want to do that stuff. It wasn’t really me. I just couldn’t stop doing it.”

A wonderful realization I’ve come to from practicing neurofeedback is this:
Underneath we’re all the same.
  • We all want to feel good about ourselves.
  • We all want to have positive connections with other people.
  • We want to feel like our world is an inviting place, not a place to be fearful or wary of.
  • We want to feel effective in the world, and like what we do matters.

Get your neurology out of the way of being who you really are.
  • Most of us are being dragged around by our neurology. “When he (she) does that I just can’t keep myself from…”
  • Many of us feel that rather than serving us, or nervous systems are running us.
  • Or “every time that happens I just can’t help but …”
  • Neurofeedback can let us get our brains out of the way, allowing us to be who we truly are.
  • None of us want to be fearful, depressed, anxious, obsessive, angry or aggressive. That’s not our true selves.
